Struggling to get enough fruit and veggies into your diet?
We all know that fruit and vegetables are an important part of a healthy diet, but it can be challenging to eat enough of them every day. Here are some sure-fire tips that will help you add more of the good stuff to your meals and snacks without even trying:
- Add some variety. Buy something new and you’ll be eager to taste it! Try a papaya, lychee, guava or mango.
- Frozen or canned are okay too. Fresh is best, but sometimes we just don’t have time, so be sure to have some frozen or canned fruits and vegetables handy.
- The beauty of soup. You can throw almost any vegetable (and some fruits) into soup, and it will taste fantastic – another great way to up your veggie intake.
- Disguise it! If there’s a picky eater in the house, grate up some veggies and throw it in their favourite tomato sauce or chilli – adding both flavour and nutrients.
- Handy healthy snacks. Keep a bowl of fresh fruit, or cut-up fruit or vegetables easily visible on your counter or in the fridge for a no-fuss, no-mess snack.
- Smooth operator. Fruit smoothies are a great way to start the day, and an easy, tasty way to get a couple of servings of fruit down the hatch.
